Black and white is always right

There's nothing more timeless than a black and white room. Like a Chanel suit, it never goes out of style. The key is to balance the amount of black in the room and this depends a lot of the size of the space, the architecture and your personality. 

This is one of my favourite rooms from designer Erin Martin of St. Helena, California. She's used black strategically to create a fresh and interesting space. The chalky white walls contrast beautifully with the natural stone, wood and iron.
